Schwyz - the cantonal capital
The cantonal capital surprises with a combination of tradition and innovation. Nestled in a romantic valley basin, Schwyz is surrounded by the most beautiful mountains and lakes in the canton. The two Mythen mountains tower in the background, Stoos and Rigi seem close enough to touch and Lake Lucerne is also within sight. It is unmistakable that Schwyz cherishes a long tradition. The town is characterized by historic buildings and festive customs. It is therefore not surprising that this beautiful spot is home to the Swiss Federal Charter. But Schwyz also has a lot to offer economically. The town is also home to the world-famous Swiss Army Knife.
Village center
The foundation of Schwyz goes far beyond that of the Swiss Confederation. The first documentary mention as "Suittes" dates back to 972. In 1642, Schwyz was almost completely destroyed by fire. Only a few buildings survived the fire. This fire made it possible to redesign the village center, which was enhanced by the baroque main square. The square is dominated by the parish church and town hall and is now considered the most beautiful example of its kind in Switzerland.

Mansions
The townscape of Schwyz is characterized by magnificent manor houses with large gardens, which represent an important part of the culture of the canton of Schwyz and the whole of Central Switzerland.
