Rigi-Hochflueplatten (1'698 m.ü.M.)
An alpine climbing area with an unsurpassed view down to Lake Lucerne, which promises a cooling dip after a hot day of climbing. The rock is excellent and the routes are rewarding, but beware: if you get here, you should be sure to master the chosen difficulties, because the hook distances are quite wide and the rock is sharp. The orientation on the approach and descent is not without its challenges, but the great routes are worth the effort.
The fingers grasp rough Schrattenkalk, the feet stand only on friction in the plate. Scotch pines line the route to the left and right. The view down is lost in the blue-green of Lake Lucerne, the snow-capped high Alps shine in the distance. Warm thermal updrafts ensure pleasant temperatures. Iron-resistant, water-corroded and rough lime makes it possible to move forward even in slabs with little grip.
There are a total of 14 routes from 5a to 6b available. The best season is spring and autumn, in summer it is often too hot. The difficulty of the routes is moderate, but the respectable hook spacing calls for a safe lead climber. Where else could an early summer or late autumn day be more enjoyable to climb than on the Rigi-Hochflue?
