New: Visit the Rütli with the "JST Mountain Drive" electric wheelchair

From June 2, we will be renting out the electric wheelchair "JST Mountain Drive" at the Tourist Info Brunnen for your barrier-free visit to the Rütli. This offer is made possible by the cooperation with the Cerebral Foundation, the Swiss Charitable Society SGG and the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company (SGV) AG.

The Rütli - the cradle of Switzerland

"We will be one nation of brothers, in no distress or danger will we part." This is how Friedrich Schiller begins the Rütli Oath in his 1804 drama "William Tell". In 1291, representatives of the original cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden are said to have sworn the Rütli League on the Rütli, which set out a common course of action against the foreign bailiffs in their valleys. Today, the Rütli meadow is often referred to as the "cradle of Switzerland" or the founding site of Switzerland and is of great national importance. However, this historic site is not only worth a visit because of its past: you can also simply relax and unwind here.
